Mission

The College of Nursing is recognized nationally and internationally for transforming lives, embracing equity, and advancing health.

    Program Learning Outcomes

    BSN

    Graduates of this program will be able to:

    1. Meet educational eligibility requirements to take the registered nurse licensing examination (National Certification and Licensure Exam).
    2. Acquire competencies based on professional standards to assume the role of the professional nurse and for career advancement, including graduate studies.
    3. Diversify the student population to provide equitable evidence-based, culturally sensitive care.

    MSN/Certificate

    Graduates of this program will be able to:

    1. Meet standards for advanced practice certification or other advanced professional distinction.
    2. Demonstrate competencies based on professional standards to assume advanced roles in nursing, and for leadership and career advancement, including doctoral study.
    3. Communicate, integrate and apply advanced nursing knowledge and skills to provide equitable, evidence-based, inclusive nursing care and promote quality outcomes in nursing and health care.

    DNP

    Graduates of this program will be able to:

    1. Develop and implement systems-focused care and innovative strategies to promote positive, sustainable health and fiscal outcomes across the healthcare continuum.
    2. Provide population-focused, advanced nursing care to diverse populations within a variety of settings based on evidence, ethics, theory, professional standards and medical model of care. 
    3. Provide leadership and interprofessional collaboration to plan, implement and evaluate programs of care delivery to improve outcomes for individuals, populations and aggregates.
    4. Synthesize and translate evidence for implementation and dissemination for equitable, evidence-based and inclusive healthcare outcomes. 

    Ph.D.

    Mission

    To prepare nurse scientists to develop and advance nursing science using established and emerging methods to advance health, health care, and the profession of nursing. The Ph.D. program prepares graduates to lead and promote innovative scholarly endeavors within and across disciplines, and to assume leadership roles in the profession.

    Outcomes

    Graduates of this program will be able to:

    1. Generate new knowledge that contributes to the advancement of health, health care, and nursing science.
    2. Disseminate advances in scientific knowledge.
    3. Use collaborative, interdisciplinary and innovative approaches to advance nursing science. 
    4. Assume leadership roles in healthcare and education as researchers, educators, and advanced clinicians.
    5. Serve as stewards of the diversity within the body of knowledge for the discipline of nursing.
