Undergraduate Music Student Imari Hill Wins International Award for Music Score

Stark Campus Music Technology major Imari Hill recently won the Short Sounds Film Festival’s “Scores” category with her original piece “You Are Victorious.” Her score was up against professional composers, with judging based on arrangement, production quality, emotional significance and originality.

Held annually in the United Kingdom, the Short Sounds Festival attracts submissions of full-length feature films, short films and scores from around the world. Its mission is to celebrate the craft of cinematic soundscapes and sound design. Throughout their two-day celebration held Feb. 24 and 25, they featured several events, including talks with leading industry professionals and film screenings.

Hill is a composer, music producer and cellist. She also works professionally, running sound for ESPN sporting events. Watch the video below to learn more about Hill and her work in the School of Music’s Stark Campus music technology and audio recording programs.
