Governor Appoints Graduate Student Jasmine Hoff to Â鶹ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees

Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Jasmine Hoff of Cleveland, Ohio, to a two-year term as a graduate student trustee of the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees. Ms. Hoff’s term began June 11 and ends May 16, 2021. She replaces Jessica Peck, whose term as a graduate student trustee recently ended.

Ms. Hoff holds three nursing degrees – associate, baccalaureate and master’s – all from Â鶹ÊÓƵ. She currently is pursuing a doctorate in Nursing Practice and an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner graduate certificate, which provides nurses who already have a graduate nursing degree the additional specialized knowledge and clinical experience for the adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner role.

Jasmine Hoff is Â鶹ÊÓƵ's new graduate student trustee.

She is a registered nurse who has achieved board certification. She currently serves as assistant nurse manager at Cleveland Clinic’s Heart and Lung Transplant Unit in Cleveland and as adjunct faculty in Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College of Nursing. She also serves as a special event and sports medicine nurse with University Hospitals in Cleveland, focusing on public health and outreach. Previously, she has served as a summer camp nurse at Camp Yavneh in Northwood, New Hampshire; a graduate assistant in Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College of Nursing; and a registered nurse in the pediatric and adult emergency room at University Hospitals in both Cleveland and Broadview Heights, Ohio.

Ms. Hoff has held numerous leadership positions. From September 2018 to May 2019, she served as the graduate representative for the Graduate Curriculum Committee at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Also at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, she was assistant coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Healthcare Debate and Graduate Student of the Week. She served as co-chair of Shared Governance and was an emergency room nurse at University Hospitals from January 2018 to May 2019.

She is actively involved with the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Ohio Nurses Association and the Nurses on Boards Coalition.

The Board of Trustees is the governing body of Â鶹ÊÓƵ, responsible for selecting and appointing the president; setting the operating budget; approving personnel appointments; granting all degrees awarded by the university, including honorary degrees; establishing tuition and fee rates; approving contracts; and approving university policies, new programs and degrees.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Board of Trustees consists of 13 members, nine of whom are voting members appointed by the governor of the state of Ohio, with the advice and consent of the state senate, to nine-year terms of office. Two student trustees, one undergraduate and one graduate, are appointed by the governor to two-year terms of office. The Board also has two national trustees, who serve three-year terms, as additional nonvoting members.
