What was once an old, abandoned woodshed on the Kent Campus from the early 1900s eventually evolved into a controversial and well-known piece of art.

Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of �鶹��Ƶ at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of �鶹��Ƶ Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of �鶹��Ƶ, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.

�鶹��Ƶ is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all �鶹��Ƶ campuses.

The �鶹��Ƶ Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former �鶹��Ƶ President Carol A. Cartwright.

The 10th annual Main Street Kent Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Kent. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Kent. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

From getting deployed to Afghanistan to being unable to pay for classes, starting a family and even accepting a job at a winery in southern Germany. The reasons for leaving �鶹��Ƶ before completing a bachelor’s degree fall across a wide spectrum for some students.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in �鶹��Ƶ’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.

�鶹��Ƶ held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of �鶹��Ƶ’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with �鶹��Ƶ, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any �鶹��Ƶ unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
