In 1991, Carol A. Cartwright, Ph.D., made history when she was named president of �鶹��Ƶ, becoming not only �鶹��Ƶ’s first female president, but also the first woman to serve as president of any Ohio public college or university.  

Professor of psychological sciences Mary Beth Spitznagel has experienced the burden of caregiving for her beloved dog, Allo, who developed bladder cancer. This influenced her research into how a pet with chronic illness can affect caregivers.

Paul Gaston, Emeritus Trustees Professor and author, will offer a presentation on actions Gaston believes call for society to "confront the existential threat to higher education as we know it posed by politicians who want to remake the academy in their image."

This March, �鶹��Ƶ is celebrating the 2023 Women’s History Month. The theme for 2023 is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”

A student from �鶹��Ƶ's School of Music provided the soundtrack for Tuesday's �鶹��Ƶ Farmers' Market.

Now referred to as Kent Card, the Blue, Gold and Grateful employee appreciation program is still going strong. Employees appreciate receiving their $20 Kent Card, which can be spent at participating downtown businesses, and in turn downtown businesses enjoy the influx of customers and thousands of dollars.

Some people delight in reading Shakespeare. But some people may find it difficult, confusing or incomprehensible. Senior theatre studies major Xavier Heipp has been working to create an open resource book to make Shakespeare’s writing more relatable.

“The accomplishments of the task force are really grounded in the historic work of the Department of Africana Studies, Black United Students and many others,” said Amoaba Gooden, Ph.D., vice president for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, who heads the task force.

In a piece by WKYC-TV in Cleveland that aired Feb. 24, morning news anchor Dave Chudowsky likens head coach Rob Senderoff as “father” of the program and Jim Christian as the “grandfather.”
