Porthouse Theatre's 2015 season will open with Stephen Sondheim's "A Little Night Music."
Directed by Sean Morrissey, “A Little Night Music” opens June 12 and runs through June 27. A preview performance will take place on June 11. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, “A Little Night Music” explores the romantic web that entangles actress Desiree Armfeldt as she moves through 1900 Swedish society. Performances are June 11,12, 13,16,17, 18, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27 at 8pm and June 14 and 21 at 2pm.
Porthouse Theatre’s producing artistic director Terri Kent* will return to the Porthouse stage as Desiree accompanied by 鶹Ƶ associate professor Fabio Polanco* as Fredrik and Jim Weaver as Count Carl-Magnus. Scenic design is by Ben Needham, costume design by 鶹Ƶ associate professor S.Q. Campbell, lighting design by T.C. Kouyeas, Jr. (MFA ’06), technical direction by associate professor Steve Pauna, and sound design by Brian Chismar (BA ’13). The production stage manager is Kristen Boehnlein*.

When actress Desiree Armfeldt encounters her former lover Frederik Egerman on her travels, a rekindling of their affair complicates Desiree's relationships with Frederik and her current lover Count Carl-Magnus. Further complicating matters are Frederik and Carl-Magnus'. While Desiree juggles her romantic entanglements, she invites everyone to spend the weekend at her mother's country estate. With everyone in the same place, jealousy, suspicion, and the possibility of even more romantic entanglement abound.
