Boot/Tow Policy

Parking Services may boot or tow vehicles that are in violation of the parking rules and regulations.

While vehicles can be booted or towed for many reasons, the following is a list of some of the most common infractions that cause a vehicle to be booted:

  • Unpaid parking tickets (even if the car is currently parked legally, including at meters and in the Student Center visitor's lot)
  • Vehicle or customer accounts owing $80 or more. Customer accounts may be comprised of more than one license plate number that in combination, amount to $80 or more
  • Illegal parking
  • Parking in a closed lot
  • Frequent Violator status (9 or more tickets acquired during the academic year, paid or unpaid)
  • Displaying a lost, stolen, altered or counterfeit parking permit

If a vehicle is booted for one of the above reasons, a ticket will be issued for the boot fee as well as the violation. The boot fee must be paid before the boot is removed from the vehicle. The owner/operator must make contact with the Parking Services dispatcher to make arrangements for boot removal.

BOOT RATES

The boot rates automatically increase as follows:

  • Boot(s) 1-2: $50 each
  • Boots 3 and above: $75 each

Do not attempt to move a vehicle that has been booted.  Moving the vehicle backwards or forwards may cause damage to the vehicle.

Any person(s) who tampers with or damages a boot will be held responsible for any and all damages to university property, and may be referred to Student Conduct. In addition, a $100 tampering fee will be assessed for any damage to the boot.

If your vehicle has been booted, please take the time to read any warning notices that are applied to your vehicle and take the appropriate corrective action.

Vehicles not claimed by 9 p.m. may be towed and impounded at additional expense to the owner/operator.
