Student Learning Assessment Plan Progress Report
Each year a designated faculty coordinator in Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s School of Media and Journalism (MDJ) conducts a program-level curriculum, learning, and career outcomes assessment of the School. The goal of this assessment is to:
- Learn about how we, as a faculty, can improve our teaching, with an eye toward applying what we’ve learned in our classrooms to benefit our students; and,
- To meet the rigorous accreditation standards set by the University and our national accrediting body, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism & Mass Communication.
To create the Assessment Reports, the following assessment tools were used:
- The Faculty Survey, which asks our faculty to indicate the extent to which they teach our School’s 12 Core Values and Competencies.
- The Alumni Survey. which asks alumni to rate their perceptions of our School and provide updates on their employment status.
- The Graduating Senior Exit Exam (GSEE), which is an multiple-choice test that evaluates students’ conceptual knowledge of our School’s 12 Core Values and Competencies;
- The Culminating Experience Team Assessment (CETA) Survey, which asks our faculty and a small group of media professionals to evaluate how well our students’ capstone classwork reflects our School’s 12 Core Values and Competencies.
