Q. HOW DO I APPLY FOR HONORS SCHOLARSHIPS AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY?
INCOMING FRESHMEN:
Students who have been admitted to Â鶹ÊÓƵ and received an invitation to apply to the Honors College should complete the Honors College application by the January 15th deadline. If admitted to the Honors College, students will be considered for an Honors Distinction Award at the value of $2000 per academic year. This award is renewable for up to four years or graduation, whichever comes first. Recipients must be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours on the Kent campus for the scholarship to apply to that semester’s bill.
Additional Honors College scholarship opportunities are awarded to incoming freshmen based on their academic achievements, financial need, selected major, leadership experience and extracurricular activities. The student's application for Honors College admission is used to determine eligibility and selection. No additional application is necessary. If a student is selected for an additional Honors College scholarship, they are notified by both email and mail by April 1st.
In addition to scholarships awarded by the Admissions Office, Honors College and Student Financial Aid Office, students can apply for scholarships awarded by various departments at Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Applications can be found in the University’s ScholarshipUniverse portal. Sign into ScholarshipUniverse using your Flashline credentials, complete your student profile, and answer embedded questionnaires to identify eligible scholarships. You may also use the Search box in the upper righthand corner of ScholarshipUniverse to search and apply for specific scholarships.
CONTINUING STUDENTS:
Scholarship awards are based on academic performance and in some cases, the student’s academic major, financial need, extracurricular activities and demonstrated leadership. Further information about these scholarships and how to apply can be found on the Honors College scholarship page.
Q. WHAT IF I MISSED THE DEADLINE FOR APPLYING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS?
If your scholarship application is received late, you will be placed on a waiting list. If additional awards become available, on-time applicants will be reviewed first. If awards are still available, we will then consider all scholarship applicants.
