The SPARK Ohio kindergarten readiness program, evaluated by Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Dr. Deric R. Kenne, was featured in an ideastream story highlighting its success in preparing children from high-poverty areas for school. With a focus on home visits and parent engagement, SPARK has significantly improved early literacy and math skills, helping children outperform their peers in readiness assessments. The program now serves over 2,000 kids across Ohio.
The Center has released a new shared services toolkit to assist Ohio’s local health departments in exploring collaborative approaches to improve operations. Part of Ohio State's accreditation assistance project, the toolkit highlights successful case studies, including partnerships between Darke and Preble counties, Lake and Trumbull counties, and the Local Public Health Services Collaborative.

The Center, in collaboration with Ohio State's Center for Public Health Practice, has released two key resources aimed at enhancing collaboration among local health departments. These include a comprehensive bibliography on shared services and consolidations, along with a report summarizing findings from an environmental scan of relevant practices in Ohio and beyond.
This past week, the Center partnered with the Ohio Municipal Clerks Association to host a training session for municipal clerks across Ohio on managing public records related to social media. Led by experts Pari Swift and Darren Shulman, the session provided valuable insights for clerks earning certification points through the International Institute of Municipal Clerk's program. Dr. Kenne was the featured speaker at the Brain Health Summit, where he discussed how lifestyle changes such as movement, nutrition, and stress reduction can improve brain health. The event, sponsored by Â鶹ÊÓƵ of Wellness and the Brain Health Research Institute, highlighted strategies for enhancing cognitive function.
