CAE Course Waitlist Procedures

  1. All CAE scheduled courses (AERN, ENGR or CAE) will have an active waitlist associated with them.
    • Up to 100 students can be on a given course waitlist.
  2. If a class is full, and a student already enrolled in the class withdraws, the waitlist becomes active.
  3. If/when the waitlist becomes active.
    • The first student on the waitlist is sent an email giving them the notification they can enroll.
    • Students have 25 hours from the time the notification email is sent (not opened or read by the student) to register for the class. Directions for claiming the seat are in the notification email, but students must drop themselves from the waitlist and then add themselves to the course.
    • If the student does not register in time, the available seat is offered to the next student on the waitlist.
    • Students can remove themselves from a waitlist at any time.
  4. Students are unable to see their position on the waitlist.
  5. If course capacity is increased while there is an active waitlist, waitlisted students are given priority for registration automatically via the scheduling system.
  6. During the regular academic scheduling period, the waitlists will be reviewed each Monday morning to determine the need/opportunity available to increase course capacity or open additional sections of a given course.
    • If an additional section is opened, students from the active waitlist in the full course will be moved into the open section first.
