The Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumni family grew by nearly 1,200 new graduates as the university held its summer commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Summer Class of 2023 were recognized with outdoor commencement ceremonies on Aug. 19.
On May 18-19, the university community will celebrate Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s 113th birthday with its annual Day of Giving.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumni family will grow by about 5,500 new graduates as the university holds its spring commencement ceremonies.
Gail Pavliga, ’91, MA ’98, Ph.D., is a good listener, a quality that has been the common thread throughout her life as a student, mother, therapist and, most recently, state representative for Ohio House District 72.

Nearly 150 Golden Flashes hopped down the hills of Front Campus for Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s first-ever alumni glow-in-the-dark egg hunt, Bunnies and Brews, on Friday, March 31.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ Board of Trustees has approved awarding Roe Green, MA ’80, a Doctor of Humane Letters, an honorary degree recognizing her contributions to the university and her advocacy for the arts not only in Northeast Ohio, but also across the nation and around the world.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ will be equipped to offer more financial assistance to students in need thanks to donors to a key area of the university’s ongoing comprehensive fundraising campaign. The Forever Brighter campaign includes a scholarship-support component, Prioritizing Student Success, that now stands at $142 million, surpassing the $100 million goal set at the campaign’s outset in October 2021.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ's alternative breaks expose students to social justice and cultural issues through direct service, community engagement, reflection and a variety of cultural activities. These programs engage students in service, inform them about current social issues and encourage their ongoing involvement in social change. In December, students visited Jackson, Mississippi for a trip, themed May 1970, Student-led Collective Action and the Civil Rights Movement.
