Lean Office

Lean Office is an initiative that utilizes Value Stream Mapping, workplace teams and office-based Kaizen projects to greatly shorten business process lead times and drastically reduce wastes commonly found within office functions. This program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge to facilitate the leadership and implementation of Lean Office and to build a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Review brief history of lean in American industry
  • Discuss where and how lean concepts can apply to your office and service areas
  • Discuss how to develop a strategy to implement Lean office initiatives (What are the compelling reasons for taking on this effort? Are we ready and motivated to lead business process improvement?)
  • Select a strategically important business process (in your office) and practice creating a business case statement for improvement
  • Review the main steps of Value Stream Mapping to identify critical issues, approaches and improvement opportunities (using the previously selected business process as an example) review brief history of lean in American industry
  • Review the Lean office toolbox
  • Discuss how to organize for Lean office deployment, e.g. Lean council/steering committee, three levels of kaizen hierarchy, team building
  • Discuss how to develop, manage and nurture a Lean thinking culture review brief history of Lean in American industry

This program may be delivered in a four- or eight-hour format and is targeted for all associates in an organization.
