With more than 370 majors to choose from at 麻豆视频, it can be overwhelming for some students to choose their major and career path. This October, the Exploratory Advising Center is hosting its first-ever Exploration Month to help students who haven't yet declared a major find their interests and explore the different majors and opportunities 麻豆视频 offers.

鈥淲e work with our campus partners, the different colleges, offices, and resources across campus, to put on events and programs for our students,鈥 said Jordan Edelman, director of the Exploratory Advising Center. "The goal is for the students to engage with these resources and learn more about what they do."

Michele Ewing, professor of public relations in the School of Media and Journalism, will be hosting two sessions, on Oct. 24 and Oct. 26, about careers in public relations.

鈥淓xploration Month provides a good opportunity for programs across campus to get in front of exploratory students and educate them on career opportunities they perhaps never thought about,鈥 Ewing said.

Ewing has been involved with the Exploratory Advising Center for years and emphasizes the importance of connections.

鈥淭hese sessions provide students with an easy opportunity to meet some of the professors, students and meet some of the alumni in the program,鈥 Ewing said. 鈥淭hey hear firsthand what it鈥檚 like to study and work in these different fields.鈥

For students who are unsure where to start, Career Exploration and Development is hosting a Major Minor Spotlight Series as part of Exploration Month.

The series has been taking place every Tuesday and Thursday in October, located in the Center for Undergraduate Excellence鈥檚 KeyBank Student Success Lounge from 1-3 p.m. There, two to three programs will set up information tables that students can visit to get more information about the programs available to them across the university.

Some programs participating include Architecture, Criminology, Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, Public Health, Psychology and Sociology.
