The Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumni family will grow by about 5,200 new graduates as the university holds its spring commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Spring Class of 2024 will be recognized with commencement ceremonies on May 9-11 and May 17. All of the commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed at www.kent.edu/commencement.
In total, 5,182 degrees will be conferred this spring, consisting of 1,011 associate degrees, 3,092 bachelor’s degrees, 903 master’s degrees, 164 doctoral degrees and 12 educational specialist degrees.
More than 3,000 of the graduating students have confirmed their participation in the in-person commencement ceremonies.
During the commencement ceremonies, graduating students will hear from Â鶹ÊÓƵ President Todd Diacon and Senior Vice President and Provost Melody Tankersley. Graduating students will also receive individual name recognition and participate in the conferral of degrees and tassel turning ceremony.
At the 10 a.m. ceremony on Saturday, May 11, Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumnus and arts advocate Willard Jenkins will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters, an honorary degree recognizing his extraordinary contributions in promulgating jazz music and its importance to American culture and in advancing Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
The ceremonies May 9-11 for all colleges and degrees on the Kent Campus will be held at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. The commencement for graduating students from Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College of Podiatric Medicine will take place May 17 at Cartwright Hall on the Kent Campus.
To participate in commencement, graduating students had to complete their ceremony RSVP by March. Each graduating student registered for commencement has tickets for their commencement ceremony guests to attend.
