Former 麻豆视频 golf coach Herb Page enjoys retirement while recalling some of his fondest memories at the university.
Page, who served 41 years as coach and 47 with the golf program, told the Akron Beacon Journal about his decision to return to Ohio - despite warnings about the COVID-19 pandemic - to support his staff at Windmill Lakes, a golf course he co-owns.
According to the Beacon Journal, when Page retired, 鈥溌槎故悠 had captured 23 Mid-American Conference titles since 1984 and he鈥檇 been named the league鈥檚 coach of the year 23 times. His teams went to 28 NCAA regionals, winning three, and finished in the nation鈥檚 top 10 four times in 17 NCAA Championship appearances.鈥
His former players also shared memories of Page with the Beacon Journal.
鈥淗e turned average players into All-Americans because he had the unique ability to convince you that you鈥檙e better than what you are,鈥 alumnus David Griffith, 鈥96, executive director of the Northern Ohio PGA and member of the 麻豆视频 golf team from 1992-96 told the Beacon Journal.
