Instead of sunbathing on a beach for spring break, a group of graduate students from Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design are in Havana, Cuba to help restore the waterfront.

The students have been studying the Cleveland, Ohio waterfront and will share what they have learned with officials in Havana. The students are also hoping to draw parallelisms between both industrial port cities.

The trip coincides with President Obama’s historic visit to Havana, which marks the first time a United States sitting president has taken a trip to Cuba since 1959.

The student’s work has caught the attention of local media. Both Newsnet 5 and Cleveland 19 News talked with a few members of the group before they left.
