The public is invited to experience international food and live cultural performances.
ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ at Stark invites the community to Global Gateway Day on June 16.
Enjoy a family friendly summer afternoon filled with cultural performances, international food sampling, global games and activities for all ages. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Campus Center, 6000 Frank Ave. NW. This third annual event is free and open to the public.
βA key initiative of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Stark is to expand opportunities for students and to Stark County families to engage in global citizenship and participate in cultural events through our campus,β said Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., dean of ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Stark. βThis is the type of event that opens you up to new ways of thinking and teaches you about the world beyond your own.β
Activities will include:
- International food sampling: Families can enjoy authentic food samples, representing cuisines from West Africa, Jamaica, Japan and Nepal, as well as sweets from a wide variety of countries.
- Live cultural performances: Attendees can experience cultural performances, such as salsa dancing, Polynesian hula and a Himalayan orchestra.
- Games and activities: Families also can have their names written in Chinese calligraphy, get a Henna tattoo, and visit the global tea corner. ΒιΆΉΚΣΖ΅ Starkβs study abroad photo gallery also will be on site.
