There is a light inside every Golden Flash, and it is our charge to shine that light on others.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s most generous annual tradition, Giving Tuesday, encourages us to reflect on our experiences and shine our light to make our communities Forever Brighter.
From Nov. 1-29, when faculty and staff support the university fund of your choice with a gift of $25 or more, you will receive a special Forever Brighter pin to celebrate your impact. With a record 53 Giving Tuesday featured funds ranging from study abroad scholarships to undergraduate research fellowships, there are even more possibilities to support the programs that mean the most to you.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Giving Tuesday campaign is a monthlong celebration leading up to the official worldwide day of giving on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The campaign begins Nov. 1 and runs until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 29. Extending Giving Tuesday for the entire month of November provides us all with greater opportunities to take advantage of additional giving options and matching incentives.
This year, students will be participating in Giving Tuesday through the Flashes Fighting Hunger initiative and Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. For the first time, an anonymous donor has generously pledged to match student volunteer hours with financial support for the Flashes Fighting Hunger Food Pantry. Each hour students spend volunteering for this cause will unlock a dollar of matching support for the program’s Giving Tuesday fund.
Increase Your Impact this Giving Tuesday
-
Throughout November, each featured fund has a matching gift available, so you can double your gift’s impact (while matching funds last).
-
From Nov. 1-28, for every 20 unique donors who give $25 or more to a Giving Tuesday featured fund, that fund will earn a $500 participation boost.
-
Crowdfunding allows faculty, staff, students, alumni and other supporters to get involved by creating individual peer-to-peer fundraising pages for the fund of their choice.
-
Weekly incentives are announced each Tuesday that can make your gift go even further.
-
This all culminates with the international day of giving on Nov. 29. At this time, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Foundation sets aside $100,000 to match donors dollar-for-dollar on gifts up to $1,000 made to any KSU Foundation fund (while matching funds last).
As in past years, members of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Board of Trustees, Foundation Board, Alumni Board and President’s Cabinet have generously pledged their private support to encourage participation from the university community. Their gifts, which total nearly $60,000, will be used to fund the creative incentives that make Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Giving Tuesday campaign so impactful.
Join fellow university employees, alumni, students and friends as we continue to shine our light and make the future brighter for Â鶹ÊÓƵ students. Gifts can be made outright or through payroll deductions. More information on all the Giving Tuesday featured funds can be found at www.kent.edu/givingtuesday.
