Other Scholarships

With the support of alumni and friends, the Honors College offers scholarships to recognize and support its students in times of need.

Additional Scholarships for Continuing Students

These scholarships are funded by several individuals who continue to be strong supporters of the Honors College. These individuals, many of whom are alumni, want to recognize the scholarly commitment you have demonstrated by choosing to participate in the Honors College. It is their hope that with their support and the support of the Honors College, you will achieve your professional goals. 

To be considered for any of the awards listed below, a student must be in good academic standing with the Honors College and Â鶹ÊÓƵ. The student must also be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours on the Kent campus in both the fall and spring semesters of the upcoming academic year.

These awards are competitive. Applications can be found in the University’s ScholarshipUniverse portal. Sign into ScholarshipUniverse using your Flashline credentials, complete your student profile, and answer embedded questionnaires to identify eligible scholarships. You may also use the Search box in the upper righthand corner of ScholarshipUniverse to search and apply for these specific Honors College scholarships:

Dr. Bernard Linden Tabbs Memorial Honors Scholarship

  • Specifically for students entering their third or fourth full-time year in the Honors College with a major in either English, psychology, history, or education.

Dr. Elizabeth Howard Memorial Honors Scholarship

  • Specifically for students entering their second, third, or fourth full-time year in the Honors College with a major in English with an interest in historical, genre or creative writing; or studio art with an interest in textiles or weaving.

Heritage Honors Scholarship

  • Specifically for students entering their second, third, or fourth full-time year in the Honors College who have demonstrated strong academic performance, high ambitions and initiative, and financial need.

Michael A. Halpin Honors College Scholarship

  • Specifically for students entering their third or fourth full-time year in the Honors College with a major in either the social sciences or humanities.

Stankiewicz Family Honors Thesis and Emergency Fund

  • Specifically for students of senior standing or who have submitted an honors thesis proposal to the Honors College. This award supports students who wish to travel and present their research at a conference.

All applications for the scholarships listed above are available starting February 1, 2025 and the deadline for submissions is May 1, 2025.
