Dr. Ann Stankiewicz Named 2017 Distinguished Honors Alumni Award Recipient

Dr. Ann Stankiewicz, class of 1976, has been named the 2017 Distinguished Honors Alumni Award recipient. The Distinguished Honors Alumni Award was established in 1997 to recognize an outstanding Honors College alumna or alumnus for her or his professional success, contributions to her or his community, contributions to Â鶹ÊÓƵ, and contributions to the Honors College.

Dr. Stankiewicz graduated with both her B.S. and M.S. in chemistry in 1977. She graduated with honors for her thesis titled "Studies on the Modified Bases of Mammalian Transfer Ribonucleic Acid."  She went on to receive her MBA in 1983 and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1984.

She has worked at Roche Diagnostics in Indianapolis, IN since 1991. In her current position as Clinical Science Manager - Coagulation, Stankiewicz designs and manages clinical studies for products under development in coagulation diagnostics. Since coming to Roche in 1991, she has served in a variety of roles including R&D Team Leader, Production Supervisor, Quality Assurance Principal, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Manager, Senior Quality Control Manager, and Senior Quality Assurance Manager.

Since 2014, Stankiewicz has served on the Honors College Advisory Board, which advises the Honors College Dean in support of honors students. 

In addition to her contributions through serving on the advisory board, Stankiewicz had supported undergraduate honors students through establishing an endowment that provides scholarship funding for students pursuing a non-traditional career path in chemistry or nursing, and she has also endowed a scholarship to be used by the Honors College Dean as an emergency fund. She is also a member of the University’s Herrick Society.

Stankiewicz was formally recognized as the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient on Saturday, April 22 during the 31st annual Senior Honors Luncheon.
