The Kent Creativity Festival event planning committee invites you to submit an application to participate in the third annual Kent Creativity Festival, to be held on Saturday, Sept. 29. Last year, the event drew more than 2,500 attendees, and expectations are high for an even more successful event this year. This multigenerational festival will provide an opportunity for people of all ages and skill levels to come together to create, share and explore the making of all forms of art. The festival is a collective effort by the city of Kent and Â鶹ÊÓƵ, and it includes many local organizations focused on arts and culture.
The Kent Creativity Festival is a free event that will take place on the Lefton Esplanade between South Lincoln Street and downtown Kent. Participants are asked to prepare and lead interactive activities that will engage and inspire people to explore their own creativity and participate in the joy and transformative power of making art.
Additionally, this year, the festival is opening up opportunities for performers to participate on the festival stage. All interested performers are required to submit a video link for consideration. Performers who have an instructional component to their act are especially encouraged to submit their application online. The application deadline is June 1, and selections will be made by July 1.
A few examples of interactive activities include:
- Poetry: Create poems with a pre-established theme.
- Painting on easels: Watch various artists paint or draw objects or elements from nature.
- Drawing with the body: Draw on a white canvas using body movements and charcoal or pastels.
Whether your work could support these activities or be completely unique, you are encouraged to share your creativity and to be a part of this third annual event.
For more information, visit www.kent.edu/kcf and to fill the Performer Submission form by June 1.
The event planning committee also is seeking sponsors for the event. Any businesses, organizations or individuals interested in supporting this event should contact Gloria Tilenni at gtilenni@kent.edu to find out how to make a tax-deductible contribution to the Kent Creativity Festival.
