For the past year and a half, the concept of continuing medical education (CME) has transformed. Lively lectures and busy exhibit halls in exciting locations turned to lonely hours in front of a computer screen, willing yourself to engage, rather than simply exist. Now, keeping CDC guidance in mind, Â鶹ÊÓƵ College of Podiatric Medicine (CPM) is working to bring CME back to life with two of their most popular destination CME programs: The Southeast National Conference in Walt Disney World, and the Foot & Ankle Renaissance in Florence, Italy.
Prior to the rapid outbreak of COVID-19, the Southeast National Conference saw peak attendance in 2019 for its 11th consecutive year at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel. Its guaranteed minimum of 25 credit hours, world class venue walking distance from theme parks, and Florida license compliant offerings drew hundreds of happy podiatrists to the seminar during the third weekend in November for the past several years. With the health and safety of attendees at the forefront of its priorities, CPM’s continuing education team is eager to return to the Swan Hotel November 18 – 21st to welcome attendees back to the classroom for quality lectures including those specific to Florida licensed physicians. Registration and discounted rooms at the Swan Hotel can be found at /cpm/12th-annual-southeast-national-conference-0 .
For those aching for international travel post-lockdown, CPM’s Foot & Ankle Renaissance program will return to Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s campus in Florence, Italy May 26 – 28, 2022. Though the seminar is young in its 4th year, the College is certainly no stranger to the city of the renaissance. Emeritus Faculty member and all-around podiatry legend Dr. Vincent Hetherington spearheaded the seminar’s creation as a natural addition to the college agenda of continuing education services. As a world-renowned physician with a CV boasting international faculty appointments, fellowships, high accolades, and leadership positions including former President of the International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP), Dr. Hetherington knows the gravity of education and experiences abroad. With a team of Â鶹ÊÓƵ faculty at the Florence campus and a roster of expert physicians from around the world beside him, Dr. Hetherington works hard each year to thoughtfully craft a one-of-a-kind continuing education adventure for those looking to fully immerse themselves in the culture of international medicine.
In case the idea of travel abroad is new or intimidating to you in today’s climate, CPM’s continuing education team is available to answer your questions and offer suggestions to make the most of your time in Florence during the seminar. For more information and to be first on the list to register, stay tuned to /cpm/florence2022 .
In effort to keep both the Southeast National Conference and the Foot & Ankle Renaissance true to their roots, both programs will be held in a 100% in-person format exclusively, with no virtual components. The College’s monthly Wednesday Evening Web Academy series will continue through May, 2022 for those seeking a virtual offering.
