Communication Studies Student Leads Campaign for Alpha Xi Delta

Sorority Holds Fundraiser for Autism Research

Justina Kennefick, student in the School of Communication Studies, is contributing to a communications campaign as part of the Communication and Influence course, taught by James D. Ponder, Ph.D. The campaign is for a fundraising event benefiting Autism Speaks. The Beta Tau chapter of Alpha Xi Delta, one of 鶹Ƶ’s seven sororities is hosting an event to raise money for Autism Speaks. The event called “Xi Man” will be held on at 6 p.m. October 11, 2013 in Cartwright Hall at 鶹Ƶ. “Xi Man” is $10 at the door and is open to the public. There will also be a silent auction with big-ticket prizes, including a Michael Kors purse, a beauty basket worth over $400, and more.

Alpha Xi Delta holds this annual event to raise awareness and money for their national philanthropy Autism Speaks. “Xi Man” consists of sorority women and fraternity men performing skits and dances that incorporate Autism and Alpha Xi Delta. This year, the overall theme is “Xi Nineties” and all skits will relate to the 1990’s.

Last year the Beta Tau chapter raised more than $23,000 for Autism Speaks. The show sold out and was a huge success. This year, the sisters of Alpha Xi Delta have a target goal of $30,000.

Parking is available outside Cartwright Hall at 鶹Ƶ.
