Chemistry and Biochemistry Announces Annual Honors Week Celebration

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry will host its annual Honors Week plenary lecture on Friday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m. in the Kiva.  This year's speaker is Dr. C. Grant Willson from the University of Texas at Austin.  Dr. Willson's talk is titled, "Materials for High Resolution Imaging Applications."

Dr. C. Grant Willson, faculty in the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin, conducts research in the design and synthesis of functional organic materials with emphasis on materials from microelectronics.  These include monomeric and polymeric liquid crystalline materials, polymeric non-linear optical materials, and novel photoresist materials, among others.  He is a member of the ACS, APS, SPIE, SPE, AAAS, ASEE, Sigma Xi, and the National Academy of Engineering.  Major awards include the Arthur Doolittle Award, the Chemistry of Materials Award, the Carothers Award from the ACS, the Alexander von Humboldt Senior Scientist Award from the Federal Republic of Germany, and the National Medal for Technology and Innovation.

The event is open to the public and no registration is required.
