Stereotypes and false assumptions can make our differences seem bigger than they really are. That's why Â鶹ÊÓƵ's College of Communication and Information is seeking students to be a part of "Project Citizen: Transforming America" from May 20 - June 28, 2019.
Join veteran CNN journalist Carol Costello, a Â鶹ÊÓƵ alumna and an instructor at Loyola Marymount University, and Scott Bogoniewski, the director of Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s School of Digital Sciences and a CCI Professional-in-Residence for a groundbreaking six-week course split between the beautiful Los Angeles campus of LMU and Â鶹ÊÓƵ.
Project Citizen will examine the political divide in America as blended teams from the West Coast and Midwest learn from each other through collaboration and team building. Together, students will interview newsmakers, voters, political leaders and their peers and attend guest lectures from significant public figures who have an impact on shaping our discourse. The best multimedia projects may be distributed in partnership with a professional news/media organization.
This exciting new project is open to students from all majors interested in interdisciplinary teamwork and will be an incredible opportunity for our students studying journalism, political science, film, sociology, design and digital sciences.
The course is limited to six students from Â鶹ÊÓƵ. Students who are interested in taking this course should email Scott Bogoniewski (sbogonie@kent.edu) for permission. The course number is CCI 40095/50095.
