DR. JULIO MORALES-MEDINA SELECTED TO ATTEND THE "EUROPEAN PAIN SCHOOL AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SIENA"

Dr. Julio Morales-Medina, a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Heather Caldwell’s laboratory in the Biological Sciences Department, was selected to attend the "European Pain School at the University of Siena" as a Scholar.

The International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) and its worldwide chapters provide information on the major advances in the understanding of basic mechanisms of pain and the neural pathways involved. Contemporary pain science has attained high standards and is acknowledged as an academic discipline worldwide. The IASP and the European Pain School at the University of Siena in Italy will be hosting the weeklong program titled “Spontaneous Versus Evoked Pain in Animals and Humans” from June 8th -15th, 2014.

This is a great honor for Dr. Julio Morales-Medina to be chosen as one of only 30 participants worldwide and it is a reflection of the quality of his science. He will be presenting work that he has done in Dr. Caldwell’s laboratory; he only started in September 2013, so this is quite an accomplishment.  As an aside, Julio was hired as part of the postdoctoral program here at 鶹Ƶ and is supported by Research and Sponsored Programs and the Department of Biological Sciences.
